2007 D3 SE Petrol - Fuel Pump Problem..

    Hi All

Driving along yesterday and engine suddenly cut out, pulled over and she cranks over all 100% but just will not fire up.

Got it home and did the following:

    • Put 5L of fuel into tank to make sure there was petrol and it was not just a faulty gauge (shows full) - no luck
    • Checked F1 - 25A Fuse - OK
    • Swapped Relay R8 with another and checked that Relay "clicks" when ignition put into position II - OK
    • Undone air intake and squirted a little fuel into the engine while cranking it - engine fire up and then stops - so my problem is not on the electrical or ignition side.
Having done all this I think the fuel pump it stuffed.

Pain in the backside dropping the tank and I do not want to layout $$ for a new pump unless I am 100% sure.

Anyone else have any suggestions of something else to check?

    Cheers
    Harry

That will be the fuel pump or blocked fuel filter, no fuel is getting to the engine

Problem Solved - was a stuck fuel gauge showing full which made me run out of petrol

Phoned a really helpful guy at McLean Motors (Thanks Mate) and he suggested that I put more petrol in the tank!!

Apparently 5 L is not enough after you have run out so I added another 15L and away she went - don't ask me why but it worked!!

SWMBO will never ever, never , never let me live this down..$ 120 for the tow and a bruised ego and were back on the road!!

Note to self - start resetting the tripmeter when I fill up as a backup to the gauge.
