Re 186 engine

Hi I have a 1980 series III land rover LWB it has a Holden 186 engine 4 speed with fairy overdrive, the dealer I got it off said it was registered or on club rego with the holden motor in it,it dosent have any rego labels, so how do I tell if it was registered with Holden motor, or I have been told a yarn by the dealer.

Hi Farmer,

I went through something similar a while back - I got the Chassis/Vin number off the landy, and the engine number, and rang up Vic Roads..

Luckily for me - the car HAD been registered with the chassis/engine number combination, so I don't need to get it engineered when I want to get it back on the road.
