    Trailer connector

Has anybody used a 12 pin flat trailer connector with reed switch to turn off reverse sensors on there D4.
I just picked up a Narva brand one.
it says "for normally closed circuits" park aid system switched by earth (closed) or by the positive (open) anybody know what the D4 i
It sounds a bit easier than wiring in a 21 watt bulb to stop the reverse sensors.

Not sure what you are trying to achieve here. The reversing sensors turn off when you plug in to the std LR ( black ) trailer plug. The globe solution is to counter the vehicle not sensing LED trailer lighting. You will need to look up the latest posts on that issue. The later D4's don't seem to have as many problems dealing with LED lighting ( as they have LED's of their own ) You can always add an LED resistor into one trailer lighting circuit easier than wiring in a globe, if it is required.

If i connect a trailer with LED lights and put it into reverse the rear sensors go off and just get louder.
if i plug a trailer with old style bulbs all is ok.

    Correct,same as mine.
I bought a secondhand pulse buster unit from a member here to fix my issue.
The unit you mention may be what Ford and others use,I dont think they work on our vehicles from what Ive read in the past.

You will find our system works by the ECU sending a pulse down the trailer wiring circuit,it must register a load on the system, which LED lights dont offer. This process is repeated every time the drivers door is opened,If it detects a load it then turns off the reverse sensors and changes other parameters, like gearshifting.
The other day I tried turning the stereo volume down when the reverse sensors picked up an object,it works. It may well work when having an LED trailer too.
Having now towed with a normal trailer and a 1tonne load I would definately reccomend letting your ECU know its got a trailer

    Andrew, All,
The volume buttons will adjust all the volume presets whenever you are using any option. i.e.: When using the phone & talking to someone & obviously listening-the volume control will adjust the receiving incoming caller volume setting, When using the Sat Nav-the volume control will adjust the volume setting & so on & so on.
In the Setup menu you can also adjust all the preset volume levels.

    Cheers

    Hi Pete
are the rear sensors wired as a

normally open Circuit, switched by positive
    or
Normally closed circuit, switched by earth

I am going to try the new Narva 12pin connector with reverse sensor reed switch to turn off sensors, but need to know which circuit it is
    Thanks
    Andrew
