    Moving rear AC Lines

Has anyone moved their rear AC lines to fit larger tyres?
just asking first to find out if it's a difficult job or not before deciding on tyre size

I'd like the new BFG KO2 in LT265/65r18 but they're not available until atleast august but the date keeps slipping, so am thinking of the Nitto Terra Grappler in 280/60r18 which may have an issue with the AC lines? the Nittos are LT rated though

    thanks

Rich moved his AC lines when fitting oversize mud tyres. Some pics here:

Or,if you can, wait for the LT KO2 265/60/18 and then you won't have to move anything.

280/60 R18's you can get away without moving the AC lines, I did for years with 285/60 R18's which are approx 3mm larger in radius.

As long as you use Rods or LLAMS offroad all you will have is some minor rubbing on the wheel arch liner in particular on that seam rather than those lines. Yes it will eventually wear a line through it but thats no big issue.

The 275/65 R18 I am running is approx 19mm larger in radius than the 280/60's you are considering so it was a must for them to fit.

For you I wouldn't bother altering the lines and seam.

    True,but whats 1/2" between friends?..

Then again, you have more sidewall to play with as well.

Approx 1" total increase in diameter.

So 1/2" increase in sidewall, which is usable..

gives 1/2" more height, and 1/2" more sidewall to play with

gearing change as well, but probably negligible.
