    Tennis Brats

I don't think some of our younger tennis players are projecting a good image of Australia or themselves to the rest of the civilised world , sad really .

Are well, the higher the pedestal you put yourself on the bigger the fall .

    Couldn't agree more!
I watched Sillios last night and frankly he is a disgrace. Time for a VERY large reality check I think.... like a big fist in the middle of his face

His press conference said it all , he seems to think it took a lot of guts to do what he did.

12 months on the sideline would be a place to start , world tennis would do themselves a lot of good to stamp that crap out straight away. Set the example of what happens if you try that rubbish.

I thought we may have had someone worthy in Kyrios...

sadly, no, just Tomic in another shell...

the sad bit is they are seen as being what australians are like...

what happened to the bloke (or sheila) willing to play hard but still have a laugh??

I think back to years ago there was a display or charity match with pat cash, pat rafter, henry lecount (he's an honarary aussie anyway) and wayne arthurs... that was a hilarious match because they had that larrakin and fun streak in them.

another sad part of our americanisation?? (probably not because most americans wouldnt put up with that behaviour from their sportsmen)

Sort of agree, they can be dickheads but how many of us weren't at 20. Think back to what Hewitt was like at the same age. I think the amount of money, less than ideal parenting, constant social media coverage and the "cult of celebrity" makes it hard for these guys to grow up in front of the cameras. Interesting piece on Kyrgios today in the Age today talking about how he offered some new Aussie tennis player a room at his house and to cover his expenses whilst at Wimbledon + a bit on the charity work he does that does not get covered in the media. You do feel like giving them a good kick up the bum sometimes!

I take very little interest in individual sports where the focus is not on whether you win but on how much money you have made that year.

    Onya Dawny.

I'm no racist: Fraser defends Kyrgios call

Tennis seems to attract self centred brats.

I don't think Dawny is a racist either but she did manage to get herself kicked off the Aust Olympic team for stealing a Japanese flag in the 60s, pretty impressive effort. Maybe the boys should try that at Wimbledon

I wonder if everyone is being too harsh on tennis players sometimes. When you think about it, you're young, you had to perform at your peak for 5 or more hours only to not achieve the desired outcome....

I'm guess I'm saying that if I'd been slogging my guts out for 5 hours only to fail I'd be throwing a big tantrum too.

I can think of many people older than them in the workforce who have less emotional control and let go over a lot less.

Dawn could choose to lead by example instead.
