			Clutch pedal movement

I've been getting to grips with my new beast, but still those clunky changes especially from 1st to 2nd still persist. I've been looking at the clutch movement and the pedal appears to bottom out on the genuine floor mat. Even without the mat, the pedal will bottom out on the floor, but the change appears to be smoother. Could this be an issue? Do you learned folk on the forum have any experience with this?
 Regards,
 Ivars

					Hi Ivars,
I thought the same thing when I first starting driving my new 2012 110.
Stick with it....as the vehicle runs in and you learn the "Landrover Way" of driving, it will all come together into a cleaner gear change and a much happier driving experience.
 David.

I found I need to go very short on the 1st to 2nd gear change. Basically, as soon as you are moving, go to 2nd.

Unless you're on an upward slope, it can be easier to just start off in 2nd.

Only noticed today that my 2010 130 has had a square cut out of the genuine "Defender" floor mat to allow the pedal a little further movement.
Very clunky indeed on the gear changes when I first bought it earlier this year, fitting a set of seat rail extensions not only made the drivers seat a much nicer place to be, but improved the gear changing noticeably. Certainly my suggestion, unless your day job is a jockey.
Funnily enough I also change gears smoother when wearing gumboots, can't explain that one.
