high rev air lock in discovery tdi
Hi. We are about to leave on a trip tp Darwin. Tomorrow actually!!!
Anyway the car is going well except for a problem that we have had for a while of and on.
When running at high revs it sort of stalls like an air lock. It recovers but is is disconcerting. My husband has thought that he has fixed this several times but it happened again the other day. Any ideas before tomorrow???
Thanks regards Lanise

Perhaps a faulty lift pump. The injection pump is able to suck fuel up at normal revs, but might be starving at high revs.
Or, fuel tank not breathing properly. After the stalling occurs, try taking the fuel filler cap off and listen for a hiss.

corosion on the fuel cut off solenoid spade on the injector pump can also give this fault.
It started as a very occaisonal high speed miss until one morning it wouldn't start. Had it happen twice in three years.
