    Sill Tanks ... legalities?

    Hi Guys,

I'm wanting to buy a set of sill tanks for the rangie, as most of you know there are two syles of filler out there,
    1. Via the wheel arch
    2. Throught the floor in the cabin.

Both have pros and cons in regards to filling, I hate the thought of mud n crap from the wheel arch going into the tank when filling. But filling through the floor has the issue of smell in the cabin area for a short while after filling. The way the ones are set up on the 77 Rangie are via the floor, which has the brass cap for the tank, and marine screw hatch from Ronstan in the floor.

What about te legality of the location of the filler point anyone got some insight into this point?

I modified my original filler and added a hose that went to the filler position in the wheel arch on r/h tank and also modified my tanks to include a cross pipe attached to the crossmember under the gearbox bellhousing so when I fill,I fill both tanks at once Has worked like this since 93 without any problems. I have under floor lpg gas tanks and did not want to fill tanks in wheel arch so came up with this idea, 82 4 door
I can take pics if u would like
    Kind regards

    Hey Brad,
Any photos would be good. I should of mentioned mine is on gas as well with the twin scuba tanks under the floor where the original tank was. And I have a 40 L tank in the right rear quarter of the RR.

    Thanks

Hey Rob, I'm in Bayswater too, so if you end up getting wheel arch filled tanks and want to do this mod, PM me and we can do both our RRs together if you want.

And if you get tanks with no gauge senders in them, VDO # 220 005 is the part for an adjustable depth gauge sender that works in the 240 ohm(empty)- 20 ohm (full ) range. Now when i flick between tanks i can actually see how much fuel i have instead of guessing !
