    aux belt tensioner failed

I was just investigating a rattle that had developed at the front of my engine and found that the aux belt tensioner had failed. The two halves that contain the tensioner spring had come apart. Luckily it hadn't spat the belt off or damaged it. Just wondering if anyone has heard of the tensioner failing like this. All is fixed up now and all good again
