How far does a Tdi300 go?

Hey all.
We have owned our '97 Tdi for about a year now and in that time I have replaced:
Lift Pump
Injectors
Reco'd Injector Pump
Rear tailshaft Joint

She runs well now and has 220,000 on the odo.
Timing belt was done at 198k.

What should I be keeping an eye on?
What sort of life expectancy can I expect?

The LR sevice life is 400,000 miles from my research, however this is highly dependent on service regime and driving styles.

You will get plenty of replies that 300,000kms is pretty common with few problems occuring, at least I'm hoping so as it will give at least another 160,000 plus before anything major is required.

Are you guys actually saying I can reasonably expect 640,000k's out of the Tdi?
Surely that can't be right!
The turbo wouldn't last that long would it? 8O 8O

Properly maintained from new I'd like to expect 350,000 to 400,000kms out of mine, barring any component failure that cant be forseen, and at that mileage at turbo or top end rebuild would be expected in most small motors.

I have a mate with 280k on one still seems fine original everything except belt.

How often do you guys recommend for oil changes? 5,000 k's?

in a TDI I would stick to 5,000 km or there abouts - always use a good quality oil like Penrite HPR 15/40 and Coopers filters if you can get them.

also every other service change the fuel filter (again recommend Coopers) and clean out the sedimetor.
