With such depressing threads, such as *"Clunk, Bang, Stop" (that can't be good) posted hereabouts of late, I thought I would try lighten up the tone a bit.
After a long "career" of Landrover ownership, I find myself in a kind of twilight-zone period of contentment.
Everthing is working perfectly on my 2005 TDV6 HSE 2.7!
There, I have said it out loud, tempting Murphy, Karma, and a multitude of Discovery Gremlins to ooze forth out of the metal-work.
My newfound tranquillity has not come by accident, or some absolutive wave of the hands from the Landrover Gods, (or who/whatever controls such things,) but from hundreds of hours of research (mostly on this site)grease, oil, sweat, and skinned knuckles - oh yes, and tens of thousands forked out to my welcoming "friends" at the repair shop!
I shall enjoy this undoubtedly limited period of self-delusion, milk it for all it's worth, avoid getting too smug, before the inevitable. (Stay tuned for the inevitable!)
*Clunkbangstop: You have my condolences, fellow sufferer. As a Discovery tragic, you must learn to loosen your grip on your hard-earned, grasshopper.

Supporterowned a ANY species of car with no issues?
You could extend that to anything with more than one wheel .. even a bloody horse if you like.
Really what sort of 'on planet' engineering, is not subject to wear and tear however godlike the designers of 'our mark' are, they remain bound by the laws of science.< (that's a full stop)
Even machines that don't get used seldom are immune to the environment and require some sort of maintenance.
Just use it - pay the money that is required to keep using it and hope that the return in some way outweighs the outlay?
When it comes to landrovers ' if you didn't already have one - you'ld still be wanting one'

Base spec 100 Series NA Diesel Landcruiser wagon.
Owned for 2.5 years, driven off road every single day and not a single item failed on it. And no, I don't want to swap my D3 for one.
Of course all cars will eventually require maintenance, it's just that my D3 always requires something.
I bought it at 40,000 km and it has never "just" had a service. Every single time there are other items to address.

Your 100 series was reliable because the 1HZ isn't powerfull enough to break anything. Pat
