Have you got the tyres pumped up too high?
G'day all,
We've had the 07 Freelander for a couple of weeks now and it's great but I find the steering is way to light on the highway.
Do any of you have a problem with this? Is there any way to do any adjustments?
Or is it just a Freelander thing I have to get use to?
Have you got the tyres pumped up too high?
I've just put on a set of Nexen N'fera RU5's to replace the dodgy Chinese 'Goodrides" and the even dodgier Goodyear's.
I checked the pressure the first chance I got cause I know Jax tyres ALWAYS over inflate. Jax had the pressures at 45psi so I dropped them down to 32.
I had the same issue with the last set of tyres as well. So not pressure related.
I just find that with the steering so light with a lack of feel at highway speeds it's not as easy as it could be to be a bit more stable and maintain your line through the corners.
I'll have to read into the steering operation and see if it has a speed input.
I wouldn't describe the steering in ours as light.
Do these things have variable assistance? the speed related type where it's light at parking speeds and heavier at highway speeds? (I had a quick look in the books but didn't see anything)
