How old is your battery?
Get that checked out first, it can cause multiple faults across the vehicle.
Also check your brake lights - same deal.
Next possibly an earth fault, check those connections.
Hi All
Had an intermittent problem over the past fewdays ? has happened at start-up (failed) and while driving:
While driving to work this happened but the car kept running OK
Looking on the internet it appears that it is a Can Bus network fault !
- Door locks click
- Hazard lights flash (outside lights) but not on display inside car.
- HVAC stops working
- Display looses temp and time
- Radio stops working
- After a period of time a message comes upon the radio about a System Fault and resetting.
- Everything starts working again....
- Couple of minutes later cycle starts allover again.
Has anyone had this before and more importantly how much did it cost tofix ... and is it safe to drive home? Seem ...is to drive OK while all this is going on.
Do not like these new fancy computerized cars !!!
Cheers

As Rich says there are three known fairly simple issues which seems to cause more generalized electronic gremlins in these cars and which because they are relatively easily solved should be checked first.
Low battery voltage
Blown rear lights particularly brake
And the brake switch behind the brake pedal failing.
Hopefully something simple and not too expensive to fix.
Check your alternator too.

Thanks for the reply's
Low battery voltage - checked battery (1 year old) and alternator all OK
Blown rear lights particularly brake - will check (Only on a Landrover - quite a unique design feature to tell the driver that a bulb is blown. Certainly gets your attention)
And the brake switch behind the brake pedal failing. - had this replaced about a year ago to get rid of another family of gremlins

Perhaps try using the other key (keep your normal one away from the vehicle) as it sounds as though the vehicle is being locked, but even if it is the cause is more likely to be with the vehicle than the key.

Some feedback for the next person with this problem.
Just got my Landy back from expensive care.
Got told by the mechanic that this was 100% a "Body Control Module" fault and they would have to order from England (Cost $ 795 plus labour).
I had read on the UK forums that the Instrument Pack could cause this told the mechanic but he was adamant that it was the BCM. So did not push it.
Nearly 3 weeks later the BCM arrives and is installed and now I am told that the "Instrument Pack" has "failed" during the data transferand must be replaced - luckily in stock in Adelaide (Cost $1200 plus labour)
More ****ed of with myself for not pushing the instrument panel issue harder! They are both installed now and I can't argue / prove anything either way.
Finally got it back after almost a Month.
Lesson: If you have the same problem as mine (intermittent start problem, hazards suddenly flashing while driving normally) then change the "Instrument Pack" first IF that does not work then do the BCM.
Did you ask for the old BCM back? You could have a perfectly working spare.
