toe in/out options - return to center

hi all,
i have just been playing with the toe in amounts on the series beast.
at one stage i had the steering setup as neutral or maby slight toe out.
i was amazed at the difference in effort required to turn the wheels, almost like having power steering. only trouble is - no self return on the steering after cornering and a bit (a lot) dodgy at highway speed.

question is - will fitting a return to center damper fix these problems and allow safe use of toe out ?

thanks
Simon

you have a wheel aligner?

you should notice some scrubbing while turning full lock(toe out on turns)

no to the wheel aligner. I adjusted the toe out until the tyres were squeeling while driving straight ahead. ie massive toe out.
then bit by bit brought them in ( more toe in ) until i had the best compromise of lightness and stability. as they are now i would reckon i have very slight toe out if not neutral. the steering is very light and easy, but requires minor correction to keep straight though. i will bring them in more tomorrow until steering self returns and the pos tracks straight.
series beasts don't need machines to keep them happy.

more caster will probably counteract the bumpsteer you are getting at the expense of heavier steering...so back to square one....

keep experimenting and keep us informed of results.....

you will probably end up back at recommended specs before its running right.....

Toe in/Toe out- return to centre options

G'day Crossy
The Series wheel alignment is as follows: 1.2 to 2.4 mm (3/64" to 3/32") Toe In
With Radials fitted : Zero Toe in

Wheel Camber: 11/2 degrees.
Wheel Castor : 3 degrees.
Swivel Pin Inclination: 7 degress.

The Camber, Castor, & Swivel Pin are factory preset, but wear in the Swivel bushes will affect steering geometry.
Steering play in straight ahead position, 2-3 inches play at rim of S/wheel.
cheers.
