						howdy all, I need to replace most of the plastic fuel lines on my 300tdi defender as they have been rubbing and starting to wear through.
what I need to know is how do they connect?, do they just push on or have to be heated with a heat gun and do I need to buy them pre shaped?, as the leak off lines, or can I get them made to fit? any advice appreciated

if you are just talking about the leak off lines on the injectors then that stuff is most easily replaced with the yellowish fuel line available from most mower shops. if its the other fuel lines... theres a handfull of options. the best is plastic hydraulic leak of hose of the same ID heat it in boiling water and then bend it to shape. If you need to join it simply grab some brass or ally tube of the same ID, shape it with about a 15 degree taper with a rounded end (I use a linisher or grinder to get the taper, a deburring tool to get the rounded end and then some wet and dry to make it smooth) then heat it in boiling water and do the push fit thing and let it cool.
you can also use certain grades of plastic air hose and the push fit connectors of the appropriate size will provide temporary duty as an emergancy joiner, just make sure that the end is cut square and is barbless or it will snag the seal and you will have a hard to find leak.

						thanks blk night, the return to tank leak hose is a bit loose at the injector end, could this be causing the fuel bleed off im getting, starts fine at half a tank get down to about quarter and it takes about 5 seconds to pump up and the air wont all bleed out cheers
no, a leak in the return lines wont cause that.
if all the supply lines are ok you'll probably find its the lift pump causing the issue

						I think ive found the bleed off culprit could be the seal in the centre of the sedementer cup, as I can see small diesel mist on the outside, will order new seals and o ring still going to replace the worn plastic lines as a future precaution cheers and thanks for the help.
