Woodworking = Vee Jay Router Bit

    Hello All,

Are there such things available as a router tool bit that will form a Vee Jay or VJ join?

Instead of having the right-angle steps that fit flush like the tongue and groove floor boards the VJ boards have a 45 degree edge leading back from the tongue. A similar 45 degree angle is formed on the top part of the "groove". When two boards are placed next to each it forms a "V".

Is there one router tool that will allow the VJ profile to be formed? Or does the tongue and groove have to be cut first and then have two passes made with a "V" router bit?

The left image is VJ and the right one is T & G

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

Have you had a look at Carbi tech or Carb I Tool? They would be your best bet.

Question - why do you want to create such a board when the boards can be bought that way?

    Hello Crash,

Because of recycled timber that I want to use that did not come with a VJ profile.

    Kind Regards
