    Where's this from?

Found this length of closed cell foam rubber lying under the front of the Defer the other morning.
Looks like it fell from the rad/intercooler area (2.2 puma). It's exactly the same length as the intercooler and has got witness marks at the ends where it looks like it's been squashed, but it isn't thick enough to fill the gap between the intercooler and the rad.

Any ideas where it came from (if it actually came from the car at all...) and should I bother refitting it??

    Cheers,
    Dan

I'm hoping my silicon intercooler hoses will arrive tomorrow. If they do, I will be removing my AlloySport intercooler this weekend and I can have a good look for where that foam strip has come from.
    Cheers

Looks about the same width as the radiator.

If you remove the radiator fan cowl, you'll find that this strip runs on the underside of the cowl, along the front edge. There's actually a small raised lip that it fits within.

Mine fell off, on the 2.4, looked like it was glued on initially. I just re attached it using butyl mastic. Didn't have any glue handy at the time, but I used this stuff, Butyl Mastic | Selleys Australia, as I always have it handy to fix the leaks and dust ingress. I was going to glue it, but it's still holding up well after a couple of years, so I've just let it be.

    Thanks Ian,

I was hoping to take a look over the weekend and refit it, but didn't get chance. Next weekend hopefully...
