    Replacement vs Refurbished Alternator

I've just joined the many that have had the alternator go on their TDV6. Fortunately it's not the dead short failure mode and my battery is still ok.
I have an extended warranty but kowing how they work I will be extremely surprised if they pay the full amount for a genuine OEM replacement, instead they will opt for a secondhand unit or refurbished at best. I've read the excellent write ups by members on replacing one myself so I might even go that route , however does anyone have any experience with either refurbishing their failed unit or installing a refurbished unit instead of OEM? If I end up going the refurb unit, where's a good supplier in Sydney?
    Cheers.

    Insist on a re-furbished at mininmum.A second hand unit may last a day,a week,a month or a year,who knows????
A re-furbished unit will have all the wear bits replaced and should last the same as a new one.

RE OEM or repair alternator TDV6

These alternators are pretty cheap items online, and it seems that DENSO are the original manufacturers anyway (with Land Rover and DENSO on the label).
Part model/number on this one (Original from 2007 mdl) YLE500200.
On Ebay "remanufactured" are under $200.
In many cases DENSO do the remanufacturing, as they do on the aircon compressors. Remanufactured usually means they just re-use the cast metal bits and change everything else.
I bought one new last year from UK (Britparts), freight adds a bit, but think it was about $240. BUT it did not have Denso written on it, supplier said they buy them unbranded in crate lots, so no labels. Works fine.
