    300tdi waterpump&alternator check?

howdy all thanks for the help im nearly at the end of my maintenance list, but I have a noise coming from either the water pump or alternator,
just checked the water pump, and alternator, also the tensioner bearing
waterpump has a bit of play, and if I move it in and out get a slight clunk.
no overheating its about 50,000 old, also the alternator has some minor play its a chinese one about 60,000 old still charging good, other bearings seem good but will replace them anyway any help appreciated
    cheers

If you have any noticeable movement in those items, replace ASAP. Otherwise you can end up with the belt jumping a groove and shredding it self. Makes a helluva mess in the engine bay I can tell you!:O Mine tore all the soundproofing off the underside of the bonnet, which then wrapped itself around every thing that even thought about rotating! Made for an entertaining hour on the side of the road in summer :/ and all from a water pump with 3mm runout.
    Cheers Scott

Airtex is reliable. I've had no problems with them.
