Hayman Reece adjustable tongue

Havnt decided which Hitch to replace standard LR one with yet (McHitch or Ritter) but wish to use it with a Do35, does anyone know if the Hayman Reece adjustable head can be used in the standard LR Hitch until I work out the best option for height. Car is currently in Geelong and Van in Karratha so wont get to connect the 2 till March

If you mean one of these (picture below) turned upside down & used in the standard LR hitch than yes but your drawbar angle may not be horizontal.
Pretty sure I've seen a picture of exactly that setup on this forum a while back.

Similar but I have the 800 series which you can adjust the angle, if this fits then it should till I work out which hitch will suit my needs

Should fit ok but looks like one of their WDH heads. Presumably you know that LR advises not to use a WDH and are just intending to use the head alone.

Check load rating for that coupling I believe it is oly designed to tow 2 tons

It is 3.5 ton rated bought it with the Van and yes it has the ability to have the WDH fitted but wont be using the bars. The DO 35 pin I have is the large one that doesn't fit in a standard tongue.(about 40mm thick) Will probably end up with a McHitch if the height is right as when the van is level it is around 550mm as long as the McHitch takes the large DO35 pin.

I assume you mean Mitch Hitch not McHitch, which is an alternative to the DO35. In which case it is spot on for a height of 550mm using a standard tongue.

You mention needing a thicker tongue to suit a larger DO35 pin. So long as the tongue you use suits a standard 50mm square receiver it should all work nicely because the Mitch Hitch gives you exactly that (50mm receiver) at the height you're chasing.

And I'd guess the Ritter would achieve a similar outcome but I've never seen one in the flesh.

I have a Ritter hitch and a DO 35 towing a 2.8 tonne caravan. Very happy with the ride height and the best part is the rear sensors all work when not towing.

Thanks for that, have found out the van height is around 550 so that should suit, the DO35 I have is around 1cm thicker in the shaft than a standard towball so whilst the tongue will fit in the receiver you need a bigger hole in the tongue to fit the Do35 in and then you have a reducer should you choose to use a standard tow ball. When I bought the van the intention was to tow it with a new Ranger but after many hours reading I''ve gone with the RRS particularly because of the 6700GCM, did look at the LC200 but cook wont drive it reckons its like a school bus without the kids. Would also have been happy with a D4 but this came up right price, right color, 1 owner full service history so it won the day. Cant believe LR have a tow bar system that is so low and stops you accessing the spare wheel but anyway that's life

The D4 hitch was modified,it doesnt sit quite as low,plus it allows you to remove the spare.It fits the D3/RRS.Still not the best design in the world,still too low.
