    strange electrical issue

I've got a strange electrical issue with my perentie - when i put my foot on the brake pedal my voltmeter reading drops signicantly? Also my water temp gauge won't go above around 60 degress-may be faulty thermostat but thought it might be all related?

In my experience 99% of weird electrical issues when you put your foot on the brake pedal are related to earthing issues.

I'd start by looking at any earth points that are shared between instruments and lighting.

X2. Definitely sounds like an earth problem.

Your problem is a bad earth, most likely at the tail lights themselves.

As for the OP's situation; the voltmeter and brake lights don't share an earth path, so it is more likely the problem is supply side. I don't have the schematic with me, but from memory brakes and gauges share a fuse. My guess is that your problem will be there - make sure the fuse is tight in the holder and that there's no corrosion.

I'm 100% sure its the poor fittings themselves. I have not bothered to fix them because I'll change to LED fittings later.

Its just amusing the electrical issues you get with these trucks haha.

I have the same issue with the voltmeter. I've checked and cleaned the earths and fuses - still does it. I ignore it now.

Regarding your temp gauge, it could be either the gauge or the temperature sensor.
