    Gems intake plenum question

When I took apart intake plenum the upper seemed to be glued to lower. I am currently refitting upper intake plenum to lower. What type of glue / sealant do I use?

    Hi

I used permatex anaerobic flange sealant, as per Ron's suggestion

Others have used Hylomar as per RAVE

    G'day Anthony.

Wot Steve said! I used Pirtek brand anaerobic hydraulic pipe thread sealant (coz I already had it).
So I'm sure any similar fit for purpose product will be fine.

    Cheers, Timmy.

I wouldn't recommend it myself, the spray stuff is more for using with conventional gaskets as far as I understand. I used to use it on cylinder head and base gaskets when doing top end rebuilds on 2 stroke dirt bikes. I don't believe it would be the best product for metal to metal as it remains a bit flexible.

You want an "anaerobic" fully setting sealant..like you said, when you remove the plenum, it's like it's been glued on

That's my experience and understanding anyway...I have been wrong tho...once..that was when I married my now ex wife

    Cheers, Timmy.

Purchased permatex anaerobic gasket maker. Is this the right stuff? Instructions says I need permatex spray surface prep activator. Is this correct?

You don't have to use the activator/accelerator, it's mainly for use in very cold weather or if you need to speed up the curing time. In our lovely Aussie weather it's fine without it.

    Cheers, Timmy.
