			air con defender puma

					good evening everyone
2009 defender 90 2.4. air con not working. switch fuse and separate air con clutch fuse (no.29) both OK.
with engine on, switch air con on and blower starts, the switch light is on, but the air con does not engage; no cooling and engine revs do not change as they do when the air con operates properly. Any ideas, team ???

Low on gas (the low pressure switch does not allow the compressor to run) would be my guess.
Look for dust-dirt-mud on any of the hose joins as the gas will be wet attracting a build up.
The same will happen if a hose has rubbed or the condenser has been damaged.
There is an off chance the compressor or receiver-drier electrical plugs have been unplugged/damaged so worth a look at them too.

Bottom line is it's a job for the experts due to the gas recovery/charging requirements.

I agree with the low gas diagnosis as I have experienced the same due to a leaking cooling coil.

Once you re-gas, check if all is running as it should. Make sure to check from time to time if possible to see if you have a potential leak in the system otherwise, it may wind up costing you a new compressor and other bits and bobs.

 Good luck!
