    Gunk in LPG

Has anyone noticed gunk problems with different types of LPG

About to get back on gas with a mixer (after rebuild of vehicle off the road for a while) Previously on BP (card discount) for 21yrs and 340K mostly in Vic and 2 specific gas services in that time so essentially no gunk problems.

Talking to a mate from uni re using LPG in aircon which you see a few references to on here and hey large LPG tank ? feed to here ? aircon fill point here. Have to buy gauges but have 5u vacuum pump for other reasons.

He spent some time with the Vic Gas and Fuel Technical side and mentioned investigations they did on various propane/butane mixtures in the 80's both a vehicle fuel (including for their own use) and refrigerant. In his memory pure propane/butane little problems but LPG ex cat cracker had issues with butadiene (mainly) with self (no deliberate catalyst) polymerization at vaporisation. This generally led to gunk (high viscosity liquid) but could go as far as solid synthetic rubber blocking various critical points.

A particular brand was put forward as a main offender (re source not servo) but suggest they have sorted out (or minimized) the butadiene problem in the last 30 year.

Back in the 80's a good quality gas conversion always included a filter lock off, and on a rare occasion it was a good idea to check and clean the filter.
Other than that had no problems with dirt/gunk.
Had a lot of problems one year with cheapo LPG causing the milage to drop and the car to run badly, refilled with BP LPG and all cured.
