    Alpine roof advice? Good purchase?

    Hey guys,

Quick question regarding the Alpine roof. Looking at 2 cars at the moment, and the one with the Alpine roof is actually cheaper. I didn't want the roof, so my question is.....

If you have one, do you like it or wish you didn't get it?

Apparently the blind is perforated, so you get quite a bit of light leakage in plus a bit hotter in summer.

    What's your experience?

    Thanks,

    Smocky.

I don't find it a problem having the Alpine roof. Love the light airy interior. I too was worried about the heat factor. Not an issue.

I have a 2014 RRS with the panoramic roof. A bit different to a Disco but I think the effect is the same.

Yes good light and airy feeling to the interior. The blind is perforated and on a bright sunny day I need to wear a cap or something to stop my brain from boiling. I am tall and the RRS roofline is lower but in bright hot sun it is not good.

The retractable glass roof is a real **** unless I am travelling at less than about 50km/hr. Above that it drums and I get weird buffeting. Solved a bit by winding down the windows. But I cannot put up with the roof open and travelling at road speed.

If you have roof racks and something smacks the glass then its goodbye november, expensive and inconvenient.

In Victoria all the southern dealers order in their floor stock with a sun roof. Up at albury where there is more sun they said why would you want that.

So I am not a fan at all of the sunroof. If I had a choice I would not have bought it with that roof, and if I buy again I definitely would not buy one.

    Cheers, Simmo

Thanks guys, it's hard to get even a picture of the blind. And I had heard that it is perforated and that the light does shine through. On a bright sunny day, it adds to glare.

I think the Alpine roof isn't for me, so thanks both for the help. That rules out 1 car, I have 3 left to choose from.

    Cheers,

I'll upload a pick of ours tomorrow. Wife loves the roof. If you are worried about heat/light etc then you could always have window film applied to it to further darken.

Thanks for the feedback guys, as it turned out I didn't go that way and the SE that I wanted without the roof came back at a "can't refuse it" price.

Really appreciate the feedback, it helped clarify my thinking.
