The Zenith Carb Woes thread

Just about had a gutfull of the zenith run rich issue despite rebuilding and re surfacing the mating surfaces(several times) .Does anyone on her know where i can buy a good Zenith carb that works on my 2.25 or someone who can mill/fit to the tolerances needed to get the venturis to mate together without the fuel leaking by and the black smoke nearly killing people at the lights when she tries to idle........Heeeeelp!

Check the float level, and check that the float is not leaking (immerse it in boiling water, any bubbles as the petrol inside evaporates and comes out the holes means its leaking. If this happens, dry it by leaving it in the sun for a few days, and coat with polyurethane varnish.

You can get new floats, but the one I got recently leaked worse than the one it replaced!
