lpg convesion defender

hi all with these crazy fuel prices i could not help but notice the lpg fuel price half the price , what im paying . can a lpg conversoin be done , and if done will i risk stuffing my defender motor thanks all .

A DEFENDER has a diesel engine, do you mean County - unless you are lucky enough to have a NAS 90. Yes you can do an lpg conversion and there is plenty of room in the back for a tank!

That looks interesting Max, do you know of any TD5's out there with the Dieselgas system? Would like to know what the increase in power and torque will be.

Yes, but why complicate an already good setup, the problem is you will still have to find somewhere to fit a gas tank and that usually means decreasing the petrol / diesel tank or spending a small fortune on custom tanks.

There's one LROC member whose been for a ride in a converted Defender, he came back very impressed. Story goes it works even better on the TD5s.

I wonder how big a tank will go under the back seat...

well thanks alot for the feed back . guess i should be happy with my defender fuel consumption, on my last trip to fraser spent time up the top of the island for a few days .before meeting the rest of the crew . i used a tank and 1 jerry a litle more than my mates 80s series who only went to eurong ,admittedly he had a full car and roof rack .

Ron has also driven an LPG fumigated TDi disco, he was very impressed. There is also quite an increase in power aswell, but you have to put two types of fuel in at the bowser. i.e. fill up with diesel and the move over to the gas bowser and fill up again. Matt
