Well the Concord was built out of 1950's technology without even a computer.

A new supersonic aeroplane will be proven on the computer before it is even built.

    An interesting point here.

Boeing wanted to develop a "sonic" aeroplane for international routes and were basically advised not to go ahead with it.

The main reason is for over 50 years now all international flights have been done at the same speeds and times.

Arrivals and departures are as boring as a cup of tea and are so set in place in every aerodrome around the world , the Airlines staff and procedures so entrenched that any change to schedules will upset them greatly.

To bring major changes to airport timings because of flight times rescheduled by hours would create a massive upset to everything , including connecting flights , buses , trains, taxis and major road links to airports.

After Boeing studied these affects , they realised perhaps the world isn't yet ready for the changes that sonic flight would bring to aviation.

Even the Concorde with 100 seats couldnt keep up with it's escalating costs.

Maybe a new , technologically advanced supersonic aeroplane of 40 seats may operate efficiently , but how many would need to be in the air just to replace one A380 or 747 of which there are thousands.

They may be just what we need though in Australia for the likes of Sydney-Perth.
