Maybe it refers to the "ignition warning light" to indicate if the alternator is not charging?
Cheers, Mick.

						Hi all,
I have been tidying up some of the wiring on my perentie. I noticed that they have made up an adaptor to convert the white six spade connector on the RHS bulkhead to a relay connector, but this relay connector does not seem to be standard configuration. Incidentally the brown/yellow wire was cooked which they cured with a few turns of tape..... I presume they have replaced the relay but it had a different base. I am going to simply do away with the adaptor and just plug in the spade connectors back in to the new relay base; I've only just worked out how to get them out as they are clipped in differently to the usual..
Anyway, the relay seems to be the 'ign w/lt" relay on the engine wiring diagram. It appears to be related to charging. Does anybody know what this does? I'd like to change the relay to one with a normal base but it may be that it is differently deliberately so that you can not accidentally plug in a normal relay by mistake, I'm presuming that this has a different function to usual.

Someone asked about this just days ago. The relay is a NC relay which disconnects the warning light circuit from earth, triggered by the alternator coming online.

Yes, thanks guys. I did work out it's a ignition warning light relay.... never seen one of these before; in the past it has been either a wire to the light straight from the regulator, or from the alternator with no relay being used.

That was me! It's all in the thread 'what are these?'
Yes, that relay controls the 'battery' light in the dash. though normally it's an odd type that does not have the normal pin out. instead it has two rows of parallel pins so that the white socket
plugs straight into it.
If you haven't already, take the wiring charts(digital PDF) down to an Officeworks or similar and get them blown up to A1 or A2 size. It makes them much easier to read and follow. and A1 only costs $2.30 per page.
