but to keep it clean would be hard
Hi Guys
Cant remember if I read it here somewhere or elsewhere.Somebody suggested using "lay flat" water hose as a cover for the strap,it keeps it out of the mud, stops chaffing on sharp objects and stops the recoil if the strap fails.
I can get the layflat hose for nicks,is this the way to go????
I realise that the strap would still need checking/cleaning/drying after use.
Any thoughts????
Andrew

Andrew, the strap would need to be dried out after ust so I guess the layflat would have to come off after use and refitted before a trip

Hi Richard,
Thats what I had in mind.Just use the hose to protect it whilst in use, store it away clean dry and uncovered.

How wide is your strap?
I ve used some on my snatch strap. the section i used was from and fire hose and I think ive got some lieing around if any one is interested.
I fitted a 1.5 m section only to the midle of the strap and its more just in case it snaps more than protection.
with the lay flat on the entire length of the strap it will roll up
about twice the size of the strap. it would still get wet, so it would have to come off to be cleaned anyway.
a better idea, like ron said, would be to put 2 or 3, say 1m lengths
on it. one for each end and one for the middle. that way you can slide them over sharp bits and move them up and down the strap for cleaning.
