    2.6 tappet clearances

    Hi All,
A question about 2.6 tappets. I have been gathering 2.6 bits as I find them and today I was looking over a head that I acquired and I noticed that the tappet cover was stamped In 10 Exh 14. This was beside the red adjust info plate that its on from factory. The factory plate numbers had been struck through, as in not to be used. The other 2 heads I have are not defaced in regard to the clearances .
From what I was told the head is a '79 x army, although 1 of the others I have is also x army about a '74-5 model though.
Was this an army service "fix" for the valve burning issue? Although I understand that was really a result of not adjusting at service time given they skulk under the exhaust

I used to just set them all at 10 thou.

the 2.6 was known to eat the 5+6 exhaust valves partially cause its a pain to get to them partially because of retained heat from the ehxuast when working hard.

Thanks for that. So it appears as if it boils down to a personal thing and experience. I can go with that
