    Advice needed

Hi, I have two LRs that i'm interested in: 1st is a 1993 defender 2.5 200TDi its got 245000km new clutch at 230KM its listed on this site seller wants $11,900
Looks pretty good and the fit out is what i'm in search of.
Option 2: 1995 DEFENDER 110 Tdi 2.5 with 105000Km Full length roof rack, side steps, snorkel, driving lights, bullbar and dual batteries. Built in 60 litre water tank and built in slide out storage drawer. Tinted windows. Brand new shock absorbers fitted with lifetime guarantee. NO BEACH WORK. $18,000

My question is which one is better in the long run. I like the price of the first, but high km. The second is nice but $6000 more.
I have heard the 93 is a better model?
Any advice is very much appreciated.
As well it may not be obvious but i am in the market for a touring LR to do a trip over the top 15000 to 25000 price range.
    Thanks Gerard

In my opinion the 95 would be a better buy. At the end of the day it has only about 40% of the Km travelled for about 30% more. The maths is good. It also has all the fruit for touring. How long until a Defender needs major servicing? My guess is the 93 is about there and the 95 has plenty of Km's left for the long run as you state.

But, how well does it suit you budget at the end of the day? Are the TD5's in that price range yet? A much better engine.
    Cheers

What we all want in the next Defender

Low K's from the city, never gone offroad.

Fat chance of that, but I can dream.

As on friend said to me on buying second hand cars.

"If it has a towbar assume that it's been used to tow."

I'm the kind of guy who sees a towbar on the back and thinks, 'that could come in handy.'

    Cheers

Go the second one, lower Km's wins hands down every time, but make sure it has been serviced. Matt
