Fuel Prices ........ again

Diesel just jumped 5 cents a litre in an hour today on the southside of Brisbane ......... can somebody explain to me how a lil bit of a blow in the U.S sends our pump price thru the roof??.................. next we will be at the stage that when someone f@rts on an oil rig in Outer Mongolia the price of diesel will jump........ this is really irritating me, i think i'm gonna leave the 110 at home and only use it Sundays and go back to riding a horse and the Government can spend their new found windfall cleaning up little green nuggts off the street

13.5 billion dollar surplus this year

Fuel excise tax brings in about 15.5 billion per year.

John Howard "It would be irresponsible to cut excise tax...."

catfishman : it would irresponsible to cause a recession by "contractionary" spending.

GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK, YOU PR!CKS!

I've had my rant, i feel better now

Don't forget winter is comming in the northern hemiphere. Everyone will be stockpilling diesel. I was told to expect a 5 cent jump some time soon because of this. The little wind in the US is just a fuel company bonus and the publics savings.

yeah,yeah,I know but the temporary discomfort is soothed by the fact that it is coming back in the end via tax deductions :roll:

if little johnny wont reduce the excise ,i just gunna hit him with a V8 fuel bill!!!
if the taxman says I'm using too much fuel ,I"ll just tell him he chargin toooo much tax

Sounds great in theory Ferno ................. unfortunately i dont think we ever see fuel below $1 again , just something to live with and i cant see him cutting excise........... maybe removing the GST component is a start so we are not paying a tax on a tax.

:roll: i was still waiting to see the extra that was "supposed" to be in the weekly pay packet after gst was brought in,HA,what a joke !!!

the only way to make it fairer ,other than the generous six dollars a week he just gave us ,and is getting more than that back via fuel excise(think about it!)is to rid the system of income tax,more $$ in the hand each week people will spend it (majority will anyway,will always be that minority that want to hang onto the stuff ), thereby paying gst on their spendings,so the government cant lose,except i spose they are losing the first bite at the good old double dip,eg tax on earnings (income tax) then tax on spendings (GST)=double taxing

GST = Great Stuffup Tax

steps off soapbox and hands it along :roll: 8)

I wonder if the ATO is going to revise it's formulas for calculating tax deductible vehicle costs. If the deduction rises corresponding with the price of fuel at the time when the formula was made, then I can look forward to a Tax Free year. (except for the consumption Tax paid on a daily basis).
