19K for 94RR with 300TDI... Too Much???????

Ok as some of you have been aware I have been thinking about my next vehicle on my return to OZ. I have been quoted 19k drive away for a 94 RR with the 300TDi installed.

A little more than I was thinking but first qoute so far.

Another few questions.

Do the RR and Disco share the same chassis?

I have heard/read the horror reports in the UK of Discos rusting, does this happening in OZ? I take they are not aluminum as RR are then?

Finally is the 94 the best RR to this conversion?
My reason for a 94 model was.
Child restraints in the rear,
Better/stronger driveline
Less electronics than latter models

Thanks

Lobo

rangies and discos pre p38a are the same just different bodies.
i doubt that you will find any rust under a rangie or disco of that age.

phil.

the rangie blokes can tell you if the price is good or bad. i dont think
that there are a lot of 300tdi rangies around! the only one i know of is
LRH's and its a hybrid.

Hi Lobo
Seems a bit high, they werent available in Aussie with the diesel motor so its either a transplant or import.Tiny has one that he converted himself from a Disco wreck.
All aussie delivered passenger vehicles from the early 1980's in aust have the child restraint points, they are mandatory.
Plenty of newer diesel Discos available at that price, there are a few really good buy on Ebay aust from time to time.Other places to search are Carpoint.com.au and Tradingpost online, might give you a better idea of aussie prices.
Goodluck

Yep understand it may be high.

I am buying vehicle and motor of same company. This then includes converting as well.

19K for 94RR with 300 TDI .....Too Much????

G'day ntguy
That sure does sound a bit exxy, seeing that a good 300 TDI Disco Auto with full history, was purchased by Incisor a couple of years ago for a few K under that, and you could get a good RR on GAS for that, Rust is not as big a problem here as we don't salt our roads when it snows, but the early ones 91-93 had a water leak problem in the rear quarter, from poor alpine light seals, definately look for a vehicle with a written service history, and a good cheap V8 RR would be a worthwhile proposition to convert to a 300TDI.

cheers

Hi Lobo, a member of the Sydney Land Rover owners club has a 90 model rangie for sale with the 3.9L Isuzu diesel with a turbo added. Here is the description

1990 Range Rover 4 door, 3.9L turbo diesel (Isuzu 4bd1) ARB Bullbar and rear step, spare wheel carrier, 2in lift, snorkel, A/C, great 4wd and very economical, $11000.

This would be a better buy in my opinion, the 3.9L Isuzu is a top engine and being 8k cheaper makes it better, i will PM you the details of the seller. Matt
