Simpson Trip

I have posted some pics in the gallery, scanning is a pain and they don't seem to look as good, still working on the trip report.

Bloody brilliant, a great way to title a trip with a very authentic background

G'day Kelvin, I enjoyed your pix, and I agree with the comments on the title I did the same thing in 2001 on our REMLR R&R on Stockton beach and called it Bartreds in Sand. It never occurred to me when I saw you setting up your vehicle to go to the Simpson, I could have given you some GPS co-ordinates to check if the 3 or 4 sleepers are still there where I left them back in 1994, I collected them along the Old Ghan line heading to Finke, I never used all the wood that we collected so I abondoned them along with a letter sealed up in plastic stating who, why and a couple of contact ph numbers to let us know they had been found, so far no-one has contacted us, bugger!. They are along French line approx 60k's west of Poepels corner, anyway someone might read this and ask for the GPS co-ord's anyway mate thanks for your pix cheers for now Dennis
PS you are a better man than me gundadin, my solar panel is mounted much lower than yours, so as not to attract rocks and other things that fly, mine is mounted in much the same place but as stated much lower, it has been in use on 2 different Landrovers now for the best part of 16 years and it has been a bonus as well.

I have to thank Caption Rightfoot for the idea Simpson Desert 2005 written in the sand.

Dennis, we turned down the knolls track however if I had of know there was the chance of some wood I would have went searching. re: `the solar panel, I got bailed up at lot about the risk of it being damaged, as it turned out my windscreen was a bigger risk as I copped a beauty on the drivers side rightin my vision (bloody 4wd's towing camper trailer, they tend to throw twice as many rocks), the solar panel seems to be made of a pretty tough sort of plastic (must look it up on the uni-solar web and it only on a slight angle which should deflect rocks, if a rock was to damage it I would hate to see what it would do to a windscreen.
