Home landline phone suppliers, any ideas or recommendations

Hi all
I am wanting to change or at least compare telephone suppliers for the residential phone at home. There must be dozens of companies now that I can change too. Anyone got any ideas or recommendations of where to look or who to check out. I do make a lot of long distance calls during the day and lots of local calls. I am currently with Southern Cross Telco. I don't know many companies to look up or what to enter into the search engine to get the best hits. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Scott

I am still surfing, just found a site that compares phone bills for you for $29.95. Seems to probably take the hard work out of comparing them. Has anyone used a service like this? They have a guarantee if they cannot find a cheaper provider they will refund your money.

Guys,

There are companies who will look at the cost, but will they steer you to a deal where they make bucks out of your subscription? I used to work for one who did that....

There are heaps of legitimate telcos who will save you money, you just need to know what you spend, and when...

Then you can compare a few of the larger telcos for their cents per minute costs...

Go with Telstra. Some people hate them, i dont mind them, never had a problem. If you keep track of the deals you can save just as much monsy with Telstra as you can with the next bloke, each provider is only cheaper for a short while until the next bloke goes one better. Besides Teltra still repair the lines anyway, if you arent with Telstra they take the sweet time getting to you, if you are with telstra things happen much quicker, when ever we have had a problem they have been her that day or the next day at the latest. Also Telstra gives you 10% off your total bill if you have your mobile, home phone and internet on the one bill, this works well for us because we have 4 services with them, the three above and Austar, which gets the 10% discount aswell. Have Telstra for the CDMA, found the service good and business plan excellant.

Home phone, fax, internet and pay TV all with Optus good value, service somewhat lacking, when go to Orange switching all to Telstra again.

Cheers
