Anybody ever been to Rudell River Nat Park in WA?
Hi does anybody know about this nat park out in whoop whoop? Literally beyond the rabbit proof fence.
I'm wondering if it is worth a camping expedition.
thanks
Jamie

Hi James,
yes, I went there a few years ago. Top spot. I was only there for a few days and it wasn't long enough. Main thing is that you have to be completely self sufficient. We organised fuel from Cotton Creek Aboriginal community but that was mainly because we then headed off into the Gibson. You should be able to carry enough fuel for a trip to Rudall.
I would love to go there again, and will do one day. Next year we are planning on the Stock Route but Rudall would be a back-up in case the south of the CSR is flooded.
I will try to dig up some pics and post them later.
Cheers

Here are some pics.

Hanging Rock (it was quite wet while we were there, and cold!):

Desert Queen Baths (were dry, unusual, even though it had been raining):

Thanks for that, Tony. Very interesting. Always interested in pretty spots near water to camp with a little fire, far from the madding crowd.
Had a horrible experience at Kennedy Range this year. We arrived to find a volunteer campsite "host". Rules and lectures were all we got we headed straight out again. I am certain he thought we were just riff raff invading his territory and it was good riddance as far as he was concerned. Nice hosting job.
It would not surprise me if there were readers here who are or have good friends who do volunteer work for National Park organisations and I am sure they do a good job looking after these places and they can get some shocking people coming to these places and stuffing it up. But they have to work with people and not automatically assume they are evil hoodlams because they want a small fire for their camp oven to cook their dinner. I was going to make a complaint about the rude old pr1ck but I knew of course they would assume I was some kind of trouble making bogan and it would be waste of time.
Dunno how I got onto this rant. Oh yes, far away campsites. Those are the campsites for me. Simple needs.

Granted it was about 8 years ago but in 4 days in the park we only saw one other vehicle from a distance.
(Then Talawana Track to Windy Corner, Gary Hwy to Gunbarrel, no other people at all. Lovely).
