    Front suspension 'squelching'

We have a very loud rubbery sounding squelch coming from the front right over bumps, and more so when turning (either way, I think).

I had expected replacing the strut would take care of it but no cigar.

Could it be a CV boot or something to do with the steering given it's more noticeable when turning? Or are there other bushes that could be protesting?

    Thanks in advance

Sounds possibly like the lower arm bushes or sway bar bushes.

Ta - the LCAs are only a few thousand old so perhaps sway bar bushes. Obviously visual inspection doesn't tell you much cos the mechanic gave everything a good look over.

Your spanner twirler should do more than look, he should use a pry bar and physically test any area subject to wear...

I am getting the same 'squelching' noise, but from the rear. I too had thought about the struts but am thinking it could be the rear lower control arm bushes. I replaced my front lcas last year - absolutely shot - so I wouldn't be surprised if the rears have had it too.

There's a depressing thought. For the cost of rear sway bushes it's probably worth eliminating them from the equation

Do you ever get tired of being right, Tombie? :P
Two new bushes and 2.5 hours of labour later and all I can hear is the driver's seat creaking

Haha thanks... it's not that often!

Great to hear you solved the issue.
I'm currently waiting on my press to arrive from the Front suspension 'squelching'. Then it's my turn to replace lower bushes...

Fun times - I should have specified it was the sway bar bushes in this case. What surprised me is how much quieter the cabin is and how much vibration they're soaking up out of the driveline.

Pressing LCA bushes could be a tidy little home business...
