They reduce offroad capability (clearance) by sticking back further.
Last I checked they aren't approved as a tow point in AU either..
Good evening everyone
I'm looking into a tow bar for my 90 and have a few questions.
Im intetested in the NAS rear step and reciever/ball option.
Does the NAS step give better clearance than the alternatives?
Is the step too high to be of use to passengers?
I understand there is some compliance issues regarding the step
Are there any other good options out there?
Something that looks good, i can remove the hitch from when not in use and maintains decent clearance?
Thanks!!

They do look good though.
Extreme offers one without a tow bar.

						"Look Good"?...Agree.
I noticed this item, before we bought our Defender & actually tried to option it when ordering Gracie.
We were told by ULR,.."We do not service that item".
Pickles.
Why don't you guys have a word to Ben at APT or Rijidij. If a few of you are keen I'm sure one of them can come up with something you all like.

						SupporterHi All,
I have a NAS step. I used the standard UK version, modified by Ben at APT to accept 2" receiver, though I think I have since seen you can get a 2" version.
I don't think it sits lower than a standard tow bar, but as said above is a little further back, lowering the departure angle. As my intended use is more as a tourer than as a go-anywhere machine, this did not bother me.
I like it, as do my dogs for getting in and out of the back. Also feel it protects the back a bit from low speed rear impact in city driving, as this is my daily driver to work
