Boating, Camping, Fishing (BCF) - thumbs up !!!

For South East Queenslanders, the new BCF stores are a good place to go to kill a few hours.

Went there this morning - great range of stuff at seemingly good prices.

Including a good range of Land Rover boots and hiking shoes !!!!

Ours in Toowoomba opened on Saturday. They are in the old Chandler Centre for those who are familiar with the town.
Humongous set up, and I agree, prices look good.

Are these to remain exclusive to QLD or are we likely to see them in NSW? Matt

Sounds like a store we have in Melbourne called 'Anaconda'
Even sells GPS units, uhf radios, mountain bikes & a small range of offroad gear. Not cheap but they do have Land Rover boots for $199 8O
One of my so-called mates bought a pair from Ray's Tent City for $60....I could kill him but they are not my size

Cheers,

Very decent looking pair of LR outdoor/hiking shoes $70.

Don't remember the price of the boots.

And Ace, I guess if the demand is there they will go anywhere.

Apparently its a subsidary of Supacrap and the staff are asked to sign contracts that dont have holiday pay/ leave loading, payment for overtime etc etc. Don't sign, Don't work.

IR at it's best  and our govt hasn't even made it law yet.

I'd be comparing prices/quality with other stores before buying.

I wondered if someone would bring that up.

They certainly received some media attention last week over it.

I guess it's not too good for the employees - but if you shop somewhere else, then the store doesn't get the business, stores will be closed down and then they won't have a job at all.

And soon, there will probably a lot more of that, so shopping will be a lot harder as you look for not only the best price and quality, but the retailer with the fairest workplace agreements.

re IR

I would imagine this store would operate like most other large department stores where 90% of staff are casuals (not that I agree with this method of employment) there therefore holidays and leave loading is accounted for in there hourley rate. Not sure about overtime.
