D2 Dash Wiring - one for the electrics gurus?

I thought my dash light which lights up the mileage had blown, but it appears there is no power getting to the light. Anyone happen to know which wire I should be tracing back from the first clip connection? My mechanic is pretty good on mechanical stuff, but does not claim to be so hot on electrics.
I suppose I could try RAVE, but those pics don't do much for my tired old brain.
    Cheers

When you say mileage do you mean the LCD odometer?... how did you get to the conclusion that there's no voltage there?, anyway there's no external wire to that particular bulb, the instrument pack has a main feed and the lights are managed through the internal PCB so if only that one doesnt have feed and all the others have you need other instrument pack or a skilled electronist to find the interruption in the PCB cos there's no internal scheme of it in RAVE, better replace the bulb first or if you did and it didnt work make sure the bulb is good even if it's new cos for the odometer there's a dedicated one to be 100% certain it's a feed issue before going further

Thanks Sierrafery, hoped I might get lucky and you'd respond. Yes talking about the LCD that shows the total and trip mileage/kilometreage under the speedo.

My mechanic says he tried 3 bulbs, none of which worked (including connecting 2 complete old dash units), but I agree there is just a chance. At least he is honest and says he's not the best auto elec around - better on rebuilding engines, transmissions etc, so looks like a job for a specialist.
At least I can still just read the LCD in daylight.
Thanks again, we mere mortals really appreciate the responses from the various gurus around.

Do you say he plugged in a known good instrument pack and the odometer still didnt light up on that? ... if it's so let me dig in the diagrams for that cos it might be some external issue... watch carefully, is that the only thing which doesnt work... the clock is illuminated?

This one is a little left field...
Has there been a Nanocom or similar on it?
The LCD display is turned off when looking in the ECU.
It's possible things got turned off and the LCD hasn't had a chance to reset/turn on.
    Cheers, Kyle

Unfortunately this particular odometer illumination thing is not covered at all in any document i've searched, i can only presume that the instrument pack reacts to some BCU digital input but that's on the serial data bus and can't be identified so IF the issue persists with an instrument pack which works on other car the only way to rule it out is to replace the BCU, or to find a skilled electronist to make a bodge in the pack as to give a direct ignition feed to that bulb but that would not make it dim when the lights are switched on

    complicated thing anyway

I keep my nanocom permanently in the car and regularly use it in instrument mode

Woooo Woooo Gav!! I've never admitted to "not being the best auto elect" .... I admit I have limited patience and some jobs I find it difficult to charge the customer (you and others) for the time I've spent on a particular job.

its a cost = value thing, I dont see the value in paying me for jobs such as "changing out the dash clock" on a D2, if you get what I mean.

I'm the best at everything I do.... or at least my obsessiveness eventually over comes any lacking in knowledge....

    back on topic..
Yes I had tried numerous globes, and swapped the IP from one to another (as it was a very quick thing to try), so it is on my list of things is to track down that circuit that feeds the odometer light....

I never even had the thought that the Nanocom might be doing something to it, good comment.
