Ashcroft Adaptor for MT82 Gbox/Tcase

Hi All,
Has anyone fitted the Ashcroft adaptor to the MT82 gearbox/transfer case?? Mine is just starting to wear and I want to make pre-emptive strike before it fails, I'm looking for some advice before tackling the job, pictures would be great if anyone has them?

Have done one on a mate's 110. Didn't take pictures. Not a small task.
I've just ordered the kit for my own vehicle. Not looking forward to the job but I believe it is a good fix and a necessity.
We took the extension housing off the gearbox and used a puller to remove the female splined output shaft, it was tight as all getout the whole way off the splines, had no hope of getting it off with a couple of M8 nuts welded in where you can't get a welder in. Don't know if this was abnormally tight as it was the first one I've done. Mine will be the last.

Mines booked in with Les Richmond next week, for the Ashcroft kit.

I had mine done a couple of months ago at Greg Tunstall Mechanical at Cleveland as I thought it was past my level of competency.

They did weld the nuts on as they are still on the shaft they gave back to me.

It made a lot of difference to free play in the driveline.

Hi , It looks like we're all going to have this shaft replaced some time in the future due to it being poor design . Let us know how you go ? Jim

Yes, had it done on Monday just gone.
Car had done 90,000k's, shaft was worn, not the worst they'd seen. But certainly would have failed in the future. Will post some pics when I get a chance.

I'd recently fitted Hi-Tuff HD rear axles and flanges, which eliminated a lot of backlash. Now with the Ashcroft output shaft in, the driveline is slop free.
Just got back from the Winter Wombat, the Defender was a pleasure to drive.
Now just got to fix the rear diff pinion oil seal that started weeping at the WW.

Whether you fit the Ashcroft kit or just pull it apart grease and refit, it 's something all Puma owners should look at doing.
