Nice,
Mine's the same vintage, but a few less k's, but I'm expecting to go for years to come.
Any reason you replaced the headlight washer jets? Doesn't seem to be something real urgent. Don't think mine have worked since I bought it 6 years ago.
I got my D2 one year ago give or take. It's a 2000 D2 Td5 manual and had 336k Km on the clock, a noisy gearbox, low oil level which was dirty and a couple of red spots around the engine bay. Cosmetically in great condition. Got it for a reasonable price with RWC. It's now got a tad more than360k km on it.
The story so far?
The work done falls into three categories. Expected, Suspected and ?Oh poo ? I didn't expect that?
Expected :-
- Replace ALL bodily fluids ? coolant, brake and clutch, PS fluid, oil (engine and all drive line), filters (air, oil and fuel) and have it checked over generally.
- Top hose.
- 5 new tyres
- Battery
- Injector loom.
- Serpentine belt.
- Sundry oils, filters and coolant.
- Fit CDL linkage.
Suspected :-
- Gear box. It was noisy when I bought the car. While it was out the clutch and rear main seal were replaced and the oil pump bolt was seen to.
Oh poo ? I didn't expect that :-
- CV rubber boots
- Ball joints
In between all of the above it's been my daily drive. We also went for a couple of outback drives one VERY hot for a week and a half and one VERY STINKING hot drive for two and a bit weeks all towing our 750kg camper trailer. During both trips day time temps were mid 40's. We had no cooling system issues. The air con is a ripper ? we were cool and comfortable the whole way.
- Starter solenoid contacts.
- Radiator.
- Headlight washer jet.
- Rear indicator lens.
- RHS headlight.
- Transfer case selector cable.
- FPR
- Power steering pump.
On the way back from the second trip (to Oodnadatta) we got to Coober Pedy where we noticed what sounded a bit like a thumping tyre but only in 3rd and 5th gear. Cause was the noisy gearbox starting to destroy itself as expected from the get go.While it got steadily noisier we continued to drive it home working on the theory that the closer we got to home before it died completely the cheaper the flat top ride would be.No flat top was needed ? we made it OK.
I think (HOPE) that the big ticket items are now taken care of and it should be good for a fair while into the future. The average consumption since I bought it has been 10.1 l/100km. Oil consumption has been negligible and coolant use has been around 100 ml / 1000km

Auto car wash snapped the drivers side one off. I complained to the manager and he got me a pair of new ones. I never expected my complaint to go anywhere but I lucked out and got the pair delivered at no cost to me. I replaced the broken one and have kept the other as a spare. Haven't used an auto car wash since..:-)
