    P38 Range Rover compressor mounting

    Hi, this is my first post on AULRO, I appreciate any help available, my question is regarding the installation of EAS compressor washers on the P38 compressor mountings, these are the cup shaped units, 2 per stud. STC3068. RAVE helpfully suggest to replace as you removed them, but with a P38 on the 4th owner, these are pretty much jumbled up. it seems they are (bottom) curve up and (top) curve up, but cant seem to reduce vibration, all the photos i have seen have them every which way.. Replace rubbers, nuts and washers with new. Thanks

    mate , welcome to the site.....but really did you read anything sat all before you posted?

    there is a section here for every vehicle ever made by Land Rover and there are sticky threads for almost every maintenance procedure.

    If you go into the pinnacles, then scroll down to the p38 section that's be your best bet.
    For now, the metal washers should be facing away from the rubber, the rubbers not noticeably sagged.
    The front rubber can be a pain to tighten properly on the bosch boxes as the stud has a habit of turning.
    Also look to see if the back frame of the compressor is making contact with the valve block driver, if that's the case you'll need to lift the pipes side of the valve blocks and retighten the 3 8mm bolts securing the valve block to the plastic box. If that doesn't work you can bend the rear compressor mounting frame a touch.
    Also check that there's no washers under the mountings on the plastic box.
    Alas, new rubbers make a big difference.

    If that doesn't work, open it up and have a look at the condition of the piston seal and bore.

    Thanks benji, i have since taken the good advice and reviewed all data on the site and along with your information the way forward is clear. I have replaced the nylocks, rubber mountings (genuine) and washers as they were convex and flat combined. The original rubbers were soft and not centralized. Appreciate your help and time to respond. Regards.

    Dear Steve, ramblingboy42, benji and mick marsh, much appreciate your response, help and direction for a newby in the AULRO site, and to the world of the P38 it has been very helpful already.
    I have a `99 P38 (since Dec `14) that has 307,500 on the clock and still does not use a drop between changes and a service history that goes back to 80,000 (29/4/04) which is a great help, had 4 owners and a lot of work in the history, but i find some has been a bit less than i would hope for and i have had to make a lot of fixes to improve as i go along, but i love it!! I will review the masses of data before going to forum in future.

    Where did you get your P38 from?
    You might want to post up pics of it in introductions. Tell us what you have done to it and what you'd like to do with it.

    Mick, Thanks for your reply, appreciate advice and will follow suit. I purchased the P38 from a small car yard in Adelaide for a very reasonable sum in Dec `14, not really knowing 100% of the models "quirks", but 1 drive was enough. i did some research on the model prior to locating this one.
    Mick can you advise re posting pics (which i have) in "introductions", not sure how to start, will this allow the completed work and future to be detailed?. i have done a lot of work on it already and keen to pass on any possible tips for all. I also have a 2002 Discovery Sr11 TD5, Regards.
