    2015 Puma Audio

    Hey All,

I've been doing a little investigating about the standard Alpine stereo in my 2015 ( MY16 ) 110 Defender.

The system in question is the standard audio system for Australian Delivered 90 and 110 Defenders ( 2015 specifications - Code 016AG)
"Audio System Single Slot CD & Radio with MP3/AUX and Bluetooth? with Audio System Upgrade
(Subwoofer mounted on Front Centre Console Storage Compartment and Dashboard mounted Tweeter)"

The head unit, as we all probably know by now, is the Alpine CDE-133BT.

    Specifications: https://www.alpine.co.uk/p/Products/...it19/cde-133bt
    Manual: [ame]https://www.alpine.co.uk/fileadmin/user_upload/manuals//car_audio_manuals/CDE-133BT/OM_CDE-133BT_EN.pdf[/ame]

The subwoofer appears to be connected to the head units RCA outs. This means that for correct subwoofer operation, the "Subwoofer" setting must be turned "ON" in the head units "Audio Setup" menu.
If this is turned off, the subwoofer outputs the front channels.

The subwoofer mounted on the back of the console is an Alpine SWE-1200LR ( 8" Powered Subwoofer ).

    Specificarions: https://www.alpine.co.uk/p/Products/...xes45/swe-1200
    Manuals: [ame]https://www.alpine.co.uk/fileadmin/user_upload/manuals//car_audio_manuals/SWE-1200/OM_SWE-1200_EN.pdf[/ame]
    [ame]https://www.alpine.co.uk/fileadmin/user_upload/manuals//car_audio_manuals/SWE-1200/IM_SWE-1200_EN.pdf[/ame]

The external amplifier module is contained inside the "LR" model mounting/housing ( which is detachable via 4 counter sunk screws). This makes the LR model thicker than the retail version. The only other difference is the lack of external wired remote ( the remote port is wired into a small pcb the function of which I can not determine ).
The whole subwoofer assembly is bolted to the back of the console with 4 nyloc nuts, accessible from inside the console.

I'm sorry if this seemed obvious to everyone. But this is the kind of information I had been searching for with no luck.

If at least one other person finds this interesting I will be stoked.

    Thanks for reading.

Enjoy your stoked status, I'm interested. I have added a retail model swe1200 to my 130 bolting it on the back of the console, the only downside is that I didn't run a power wire from the deck when I ran the RCA cables for the sub input and the sub motorboats until the deck powers up when power is supplied from an accessory feed. Do you have any details of the factory power feed for the swe1200? ( so that I can potentially tap into an existing wire in the loom closer to the console than the back of the deck)

By the way the firmware on the BT133 is very different from the commercial model as well and upgrading it to get a worthwhile Bluetooth function was not achievable ( for me) some more details here :Alpine CDE-133BT headunit firmware update

    Regards

    Hi Tote,

I have gone down the same path as you, I have mounted the sub amp in the battery box where the bottle jack used to live. I have power to the amp from the service battery fuse break out box (personal choice) and ran the trigger (blue) cable along with RCA cable under mat/carpet to the head unit.

    Many Thanks
    pd
