    Vehicle log book/service history apps

I figured this is the best forum section for this post, its not a typical tool, but its a tool many enthusiast vehicle owners use in some way... Keeping track of what we spend on our cars.

Theres a heap of ways to keep track of what you've spent on your car and for recording service history etc.... I choose to make use of whats available to us in the form of electronic programs. I've been a long time user of Automotive Wolf:
Automotive Wolf Car Maintenance Software :: Car Care Software :: Vehicle Maintenance Software
However for quite a while now my home PC has been a Mac so theres not been a way to run it on the Mac OS without using dual boot into windows and having it installed there. But in the last couple of months my windows boot has crapped out and to be honest the main thing I've been using it for was automotive wolf. So I've now decided to get rid of windoze and look for an alternative method.

Decided that I didnt want something that was mobile based, figured unless it has a cloud backup if you loose or damage your mobile device then you could possibly loose your information. Plus a few that I looked at years ago I didnt really like
I've found an online solution that so far has been excellent

Its a yearly subscription based setup but its got everything I want and is a hell of a lot better that any other of the free versions I found out there. Its been setup to be a fleet based management system, but easily does the consumer level stuff. Theres a free 30 day trail which I initial ran with now to evaluate it, but I've now just subscribed.

    Interesting

I've been using a spreadsheet since the 80's for each car I've had. Started with Lotus 123 and migrated in the early 90's to Excel.

At present there is a worksheet for each year which tracks fuel consumption/cost along with other costs like rego insurance and repairs. Another sheet tracks maintenance summaries and these all roll up into a summary sheet tracking and graphimg cost per year and km.

Not as elegant as a bespoke solution but free.

    Cheers

    Steve
