Hopefully the British Parliament will vote down this madness before it does too much damage to the British economy, wrecks the banking industry and makes British exports uncompetitive in the EU because of the 10% import duty.

I hope they have listened to the electorate and go ahead and vote in favour of it.

If everyone took the trouble to vote it would probably fail.

Seems to me it was a vote from passion, not the head. Not living there, it's a bit difficult to understand.

The vote seems to have been inflamed by anti-immigration passions fuelled by unhappiness about unemployment and stagnant incomes, from what I can work out.
I see the head of the banking industry in England has predicted that if Brexit goes ahead the banks will move about 75,000 jobs from London to EU cities such as Brussels or Berlin. So losing 75,000 jobs would make it even harder for the people who voted for Brexit to get a job themselves - talk about an own goal!
British exports to the EU are likely to cop a 10% import duty if England leaves the common market, making them less competitive. JLR is opening a plant in Slovakia to avoid that duty, and for other reasons.

An English mate of mine [ bought up in Northern Ireland] Thinks it's a good thing, because foreign workers won't be allowed in to work for peanuts [ he mentioned Polish] and the Brits will be able to take control of their fisheries again. The feeling I get is that some old hard heads want to go back to the Land of Hope and Glory. I say, they abandoned us for the Common Market, because it suited them, they deserve whatever may be coming.
