How much paint do I need ?

To repaint the body and interior of a 109" soft top, assuming two coats, how many litres of paint (roughly) ?

I know there will be various factors influencing that, so that's why I say roughly.

Is primer plus two coats the norm ?

    Any guidance appreciated.

    Cheers,
    John

    Paint volumes

It really depends on which type of paint you use. Different paint types use different percentages of thinners and the total volume required obviously includes thinners.
Your paint supplier will be able to tell you how much of each to buy fairly accurately but always get about 5l of thinners extra to cover cleaning etc.

As a rough guide I used just under 5l of color on my Perentie soft top inside and out. The inside of the bin will take at least 1.5l of that.
    I put on 3 coats.

Thanks Phil, that's great. My concern was buying too little paint, then having to and get more which may or may not match the paint bought first time. So I want to buy all I need in one purchase.

John paint is quiet expensive I ran out after initially buying 4 litres,
I went to a different supplier to buy some more but bought exactly the same paint.
Gave new supplier previous supplier's paint code and got a perfect match.
Don't know if I was just lucky but I feel confident I could get the same colour again if I run out again.
Reason I'm using so much paint is I'm learning to spray paint as I do the job,.......fair bit of two steps forward on step back.

Get more rather than less, it's cheaper in big tins! And you have some left over for muck ups/touch ups. (nothing worse than trying to eek that last bit out of a can to finish the job).
