Good to see they fixed the auto lowering of the suspension at 50km/h
There are two offroad suspension heights; +40mm for speeds of up to 80km/h, and +75mm for speeds below 50km/h, unlike the older model which auto-lowered to normal height above 50km/h unless you had one of various aftermarket mods to fix it. This addresses a problem I once used an entire feature article to complain about – many Aussie tracks require high clearance but you often travel above 50km/h. No more lowering of the car and then the compressor complaining about overheating as you jack it back it!

    Hmmm,, nice.
I rather like them, and all they're gadgets, and good to see the towing capacity is still the same. I had the chance to wait for one of these, but I'm never sure about the first years of any car. I always feel its best to wait until its been ironed out a little first.

What are the styling differences between it and the Disco Sport - they look the same.

I see you've been around a bit yourself. Good job Markus. You are now on my list of top blokes.

Its more like the current RRS than the Disco sport.
The Disco Sport is smaller, its the old freeloader.Quite a nice vehicle to drive, much nicer(except for the grunt)than our petrol turbo Territory to drive, basically the same shape and size too.

Having owned a Territory and driven the Disco Sport for a few days, I'll second that as a pretty accurate description. Looks a lot like the terry too.
    Cheers, Billy.

Unless MY14 onwards is different, I think you'll find the D4 has never lowered at 50KPH. Gongs come on around 40 something .... maybe 43 (and that's where a lot of armchair magazine journo experts have often quoted lowering at around 40KPH) but my MY10 and 13 lower at 55KPH .... every time.

    It's only 5kph ... but hey ...

Remove it from all the other LR cars and it looks great and has lots of great features.

But to me it gets lost when you put it in the pack. It's been said before but I think it's lost its Discovery identity and looks more like a RR.

    Other more practical negative observations:

I'm sure there are good reasons to make it bigger than a current D4 and they must have outweighed the loss of an awesome turning circle. Anybody know?

The electric 3rd row seats have merit (but an app .... really?) but once again at cost and weight. The middle row electrics are a joke.... press a button (at almost exactly the same spot you'd release the seat-back in a current D4) to get the back to tilt and then manually shift the rest ..... Why bother?

The photo from behind with the rear row lifted shows a mess of cargo blind(?) and other flaps ... looks very disjointed. I saw a photo in another magazine with some sort of panel with wires attached in a vertical position maybe the cargo blind again?) .... but it looked like an afterthought/pin-on feature.

And why kill the flat floor and change to the new middle row folding config? It seems like an unnecessary redesign that probably comes with a cost.

Anyway ... time will tell I suppose once they are here in the flesh.

It looks very much like a Discovery sport on steroids

    No mention of tyre sizes....

If there are no 18's for it,there won't be much chance of one at our place.
