    Spare wheel winch

    Christmas day. Discovery 3.
Went to put on my lovely new valve caps that i got for christmas, and the spare tyre wouldn't bloody lower.

The winder just span and did nothing. We eventually managed to maneuver the spare out (with great difficulty) and got the winder off.

Took it apart and looked at repairing it but that didn't work out, so i was wondering what my options are for a replacement? Is the discovery 4 winder any more reliable? LRdirect want $75 for a britpart replacement (yuck) or 150 for a discovery 4 replacement plus shipping.
Does anyone have a winch lying around i could acquire?

    For future reference:

Trick is to loosen a little (just a little) and then knock the spare loose before continuing to lower it..

Anyone with a Long Range tank fitted should have one available (I already donated mine to another member on here).
